Business Value & Strategic Integration Specialist

I work primarily with owners of privately held businesses to identify financial opportunities often hiding in plain sight—within the dollars they are already spending, the activities their people are already performing, and the financial structures already inside the business.

At the center of my approach is a simple question:

Are the dollars already inside your business working as efficiently as they could to improve tax efficiency, retain key people, build owner wealth, and increase business value?

Rather than beginning with a product or assumption that something needs to change, I look across the business to identify where greater efficiency, value, or opportunity may already exist.

Tax Efficiency

I help owners look beyond traditional tax planning to identify opportunities that may not be obvious. A business may already be designing, engineering, developing, testing, improving products or processes, or solving technical and operational challenges without recognizing that these activities may warrant specialized evaluation.

When an opportunity may exist, I ask the appropriate questions and, when warranted, coordinate with the owner's CPA and specialized resources for further evaluation.

Cash Efficiency

Businesses frequently maintain significant cash for operations, reserves, future purchases, or unexpected needs. I help owners evaluate whether those dollars are positioned appropriately for liquidity and protection needs while considering whether underutilized cash could be working more efficiently.

Talent Retention

I help owners evaluate whether dollars already being spent on compensation, benefits, and incentives are helping recruit, reward, and retain the people the business depends upon. The focus is whether those dollars are producing the intended result—retaining key people, strengthening leadership continuity, and reducing the consequences of losing critical talent.

Owner & Enterprise Value

I help coordinate business planning, personal financial planning, and exit planning so decisions made today contribute to enterprise value and the owner's long-term financial independence.

Drawing from the Exit Planning Institute's Value Acceleration Methodology, I consider transferable value, owner dependence, leadership continuity, financial readiness, and preparation for an eventual transition.

Exit planning is an ongoing value-building process, not simply an event that begins when an owner is ready to sell. It can begin well before a transaction and can also support a buyer before acquisition and afterward.

Finding What's Hidden

My approach is centered on identifying where dollars, opportunities, risks, or value may be overlooked. This may include tax efficiency; business development, engineering, testing, or improvement activities; cash utilization; key-person retention; qualified and nonqualified benefits; owner wealth; fiduciary risk; succession and exit readiness; enterprise value; and charitable, estate, or wealth-planning opportunities.

When an opportunity is identified, I help determine whether it warrants further evaluation and coordinate with the owner's CPA, attorney, or other specialists when appropriate.

Specialized Expertise, Resources & Professional Network

Through my credentials, affiliations, and professional networks, I have access to specialized knowledge, resources, and professionals across business and personal financial planning.

These resources span wealth management, retirement plans and fiduciary governance, executive benefits, tax-related opportunities, cash management, business valuation, succession, mergers and acquisitions, and exit planning.

My professional network includes the Exit Planning Institute through my CEPA@ designation, Retirement Plan Advisory Group (RPAG), Exit Planning Exchange (XPX), Midwest Business Brokers & Intermediaries (MBBI), and the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants (WICPA) as an Affiliate Member.
